Glenview

Glenview is a safe and friendly community, just twenty miles north of the city of Chicago. It has earned its reputation as a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. Quality demographics, access to transportation and services, and an excellent school system - it is these traits more than anything else that motivates residents as well as businesses to locate here. The strong mix of recreation, housing, education, cultural and business services add to the intangible quality of life.

Glenview's Attractions

The Hartung Auto Museum
The museum features more than one hundred antique autos, trucks, tractors and motorcycles, and a variety of other collectibles.

Historical Society Museum

Historical Society Museum
Step inside this 19th century home and return to Glenview's past. Furnished with turn of the century furniture, the museum is home to many artifacts reflecting life in Glenview during this period.

The Mormon Temple
This beautiful temple, constructed in 1987, attracts thousands of visitors each year. The exterior and interior grounds of the temple are open to the public.

The Grove National Historic Landmark
The 82 acre nature preserve and public museum consists of three historic homes, which include a red school house, a log cabin and the original Kennicott Homestead. The natural woodland also contains diverse plants, trees, insects, mammals, native migrating birds and water fowl. You can hike miles of beautiful trails that wind through woods and prairie and explore a prehistoric swamp.

Cows peacefully grazing roadside.

Wagner Farm
The only operational farm left in Cook County, Wagner Farm is an example of Glenview's living history. Motorists are often surprised to see cows peacefully grazing roadside - right in the heart of suburbia! Although the farm is a private residence, visitors can drive the perimeter in hopes of catching a glimpse of the famous cows.

Northbrook

Twenty five miles north of Chicago's Loop and four miles west of Lake Michigan, the Village of Northbrook is fringed on three sides by acres of forest preserve and lagoons. An excellent network of air, rail and highway facilities provides commuter convenience and strategic connections for area business and industry.

Real Estate Tips
Financing Your Home >The Language of Financing

When you meet with a lender to apply for financing, you may feel as if you are in a foreign country when the loan officer begins to talk about points, Regulation Z margins, PMI, and ARMs.

You are not alone if you feel left behind by loan terminology. Like many professionals, lenders use a highly specialized language. Don't hesitate to ask for a translation! This is especially true if you are investigating some of the more complicated loans with rates that can be adjusted periodically. As you consider the various loan options, find out what the interest rate will be and at what point the lender will commit to that rate. If the loan has an adjustable rate, be sure that you understand how often the rate will adjust, and by how much your payments may go up. Find out if the loan can be assumed by a future buyer. The lender isn't trying to confuse you. The mortgage process is complicated, so just keep asking questions until you understand.
